OMGsquee! Its the moment that all Christopher Nolan fans have been waiting for! The mostly stock footage-and-narration teaser for the upcoming space epic Interstellar is here, and while it may not bombard viewers with brain-melting shots of deep space like Gravitys first trailer astounded us with, but this preview already has me more interested in the concept of space travel than I was with Alfonso Cuaróns eye candy. And all it takes is the dulcet tones of Matthew McConaugheys inspirational voiceover.Attached to trailers running before Peter Jacksons The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, our first look at Interstellar, via Twitter, is of crops that solidify that this is a movie about prolonged human survival, as it will follow a group of scientists who must travel farther than anyone else has ever dreamed of going in order to find a planet capable of growing food in a future where our own Earth is no longer fertile.We then see a large number of moments from the exciting history of space travel, with much footage taken from NASAs heyday, while McConaughey talks about our lost pride in getting out into space as the years have gone by. Of course, the modern space race is in full effect on both public ly funded and the privately funded levels, but its possible his future-living character is referring to our present times. Thats exactly what Nolan would try and do to confuse us. But theres nothing confusing about this visual clue, which clearly signifies an interrupting interest in space travel.But wait! McConaughey is driving an old truck around some fields of green, and its assumedly him holding a childs hand while a rocket flies up in the air as the title fades vertically into the picture. Its quite a moving moment, seen in the image below, but it makes me wonder exactly what character the actor is playing. We know his name is Cooper, but I was under the assumption that he was one of the guys flying out into wormholes and things. Is this part of the time travel? So many questions!Its no shock that we dont get very much footage from the film itself, as its still currently in production, and should be finished sometime before the end of the month. I guess it was naïve and greedy to think that we might get something explaining some aspect of the plot. But no matter. One doesnt normally expect to feel moved by something as simple as a teaser, and Interstellar has me wanting to go stand on my roof just to be a little closer to the sky.Interstellar boasts an all-star cast including Michael Caine, Casey Affleck, Anne Hathaway, Ellen Burstyn, Jessica Chastain, John Lithgow, Wes Bentley, Topher Grace, David Oyelowo and Mackenzie Foy. Perhaps the best part of the clip was the manner in which it announced its future release. More specifically, we can look forward to seeing Interstellar, preferably in IMAX, on November 7, 2014.
